BOARD MEMBER HIGHLIGHT
Meet Dan Bevels
A lifelong resident of Floyd County and the President of the Atrium Health Floyd-Polk Foundation, Dan serves on our executive committee and has generously given six years of service as a member of our governing board. He has been instrumental in the re-visioning of United Way FPC. While helping guide the organization through transformative change, he imbued our mission with both his love for people and commitment to improving the quality of life for all in our local communities.

CREATING LASTING
CHANGE
We bring our communities together to create pathways to better health, education, and economic opportunities for everyone, and use data to promote individual well-being as a foundation for a more holistic approach to community health.
COLLABORATION
We’re working to initiate innovative cross-sector partnerships that share data to improve real-time care coordination, reduce the use of costly public
services, inform public policy, and support individuals’ progress in achieving health, social connectedness, housing stability, and other quality of life indicators.
By developing and engaging in collaborative approaches, we have an opportunity to share lessons learned and best practices to encourage, inspire, and educate others to join us in breaking down barriers across sectors to improve the quality of life for all.
COMMUNITY

OPPORTUNITY
United Way proudly champions a community-led process that prioritizes collaboration and innovation, ensuring all funds raised remain in our region. We actively engage with local residents, business leaders, nonprofit partners, and policymakers to develop comprehensive solutions that support the overall growth and prosperity of our community
URGENT NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY
A BOLD VISION
Across FPC, more than half our residents struggle to afford basic necessities. Many are working hard, yet still forced to make impossible choices between rent and groceries, medical care, and childcare. These households, known as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), are the backbone of our workforce, yet they remain one emergency away from crisis.
At United Way, we are committed to closing this gap by providing ready access to resource and engagement information through 211, using 211’s local data and insights to create solutions tailor-made to our community’s challenges, and stabilizing our region's workforce through wraparound services and support for employees and their households through Workforce Advocacy.
